New Delhi, August 15, 2025 – India marks its 79th Independence Day today with grand celebrations, powerful political messaging, and a vision for national progress. From the ramparts of the historic Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivers his longest Independence Day address in 12 years, calling for complete self-reliance in key sectors: from fertilizers and jet engines to electric vehicle batteries and vowing to protect farmers amid global trade pressures.

In a landmark technological announcement, he promises the rollout of India’s first Made-in-India semiconductor chip by the end of the year, aiming to strengthen technological sovereignty. His speech also carries a stern warning to Pakistan, asserting that India will decisively retaliate against any future attacks and will not bow to nuclear intimidation.

The celebrations feature spectacular visuals, with Indian Air Force helicopters flying the Tricolour while showering petals and displaying an “Operation Sindoor” banner. Across the nation, landmarks glow in the tricolour, while at the Wagah–Attari border, India unfurls a towering 200-foot flag in a symbolic show of pride against Pakistan’s 165-foot mast. The day, 78 years after independence in 1947, blends patriotic fervor, cultural pride, and a bold declaration of India’s ambition for a developed, self-reliant future.
