Starvation Toll Rises in Gaza as 10, Including Two Children, Die in 24 Hours

Gaza’s Health Ministry has confirmed that 10 Palestinians, including two children, died of famine and malnutrition in the past 24 hours, Al Jazeera reported on Wednesday. The new figures highlight the worsening humanitarian crisis in the besieged territory, where shortages of food, medicine, and clean water have pushed millions to the brink of starvation.

According to the ministry, these latest deaths bring the total number of people who have died from hunger-related causes in Gaza to 313, among them 119 children. Health officials warned that the toll is likely to rise further as aid remains severely restricted and hospitals struggle to treat cases of severe malnutrition.

International aid agencies, including the United Nations, have repeatedly warned that Gaza is facing a catastrophic food crisis. With farmland destroyed, supply routes cut off, and humanitarian convoys blocked or delayed, relief efforts remain far short of the population’s needs. UNICEF recently described the situation as “a child malnutrition emergency of unprecedented scale.”

The crisis comes against the backdrop of Israel’s ongoing blockade and military operations, which have devastated Gaza’s infrastructure and displaced large parts of the population. Human rights groups have accused Israel of using starvation as a weapon of war, while regional and global powers face mounting pressure to push for a humanitarian ceasefire and unrestricted aid access.

As the death toll from hunger rises daily, Gaza’s hospitals and aid workers continue to appeal for urgent international intervention. “Every hour lost means more lives lost,” one health official said, stressing that without immediate large-scale relief, the enclave could face a famine unlike any seen in recent decades.
