Unidentified drones were spotted over Denmark’s largest military base during the night, authorities confirmed on Saturday. This incident is the latest in a series of drone sightings that Danish officials have described as a “hybrid attack.”

The mysterious drone appearances have led to the temporary closure of multiple airports across Denmark since Monday, when the first drones were detected.

Simon Skelsjaer, the duty officer at Karup military base, told AFP that the incident occurred around 8:15 pm local time (11:15 pm PKT) and lasted for several hours. “One to two drones were observed outside and over the airbase,” he said. However, police could not determine the origin of the drones and confirmed that no efforts were made to shoot them down. The police are working alongside the military to investigate the matter.

The Karup base shares its runways with Midtjylland civilian airport, which was temporarily closed during the incident. Fortunately, no commercial flights were scheduled at the time, so operations were not affected.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen described the recent events as “hybrid attacks,” indicating a form of unconventional warfare targeting Denmark in recent days. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
