Canada Condemns Israel’s Gaza Escalation, Demands Immediate Ceasefire

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has sharply criticized Israel’s decision to escalate its military operations in Gaza, warning the move will deepen what he called the “humanitarian horror” for Palestinian civilians and worsen the plight of Israeli hostages.

Carney called for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, the disarmament of Hamas, and a “massive and sustained” increase in humanitarian aid to the besieged enclave. He reaffirmed Canada’s support for a two-state solution — envisioning an independent Palestinian state coexisting peacefully alongside Israel — but stressed that Hamas must be excluded from governance.

“Preserving the prospects for peace and stability in the region must be our collective priority,” Carney said, urging all parties to engage in negotiations aimed at achieving “a just, meaningful, and lasting peace” that upholds the dignity, security, and aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians.
