Beijing: Wang Yi, the Foreign Minister of China, has announced that Beijing will send a special envoy to the Middle East as part of diplomatic efforts aimed at mediating the growing regional crisis and reducing escalating tensions.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi held telephone conversations with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, during which they discussed the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East and the ongoing conflicts affecting the region.

During the discussions, Wang Yi praised Saudi Arabia’s measured and restrained approach, particularly its stance advocating the peaceful resolution of disputes. He emphasized that the protection of civilians must remain a red line amid the escalating tensions and warned that any actions putting civilian lives at risk could further worsen the crisis.

The Chinese foreign minister also cautioned against targeting energy facilities and other non-military infrastructure, noting that such attacks could trigger wider instability across the region. He stressed that escalating attacks on critical infrastructure would only deepen uncertainty and heighten the risk of a broader conflict.

Wang Yi further highlighted the importance of keeping international trade routes and maritime energy transport secure, stating that Beijing is closely monitoring developments affecting shipping lanes and regional economic stability.

He reiterated that China is ready to play a constructive role in de-escalating tensions and supports resolving disputes through dialogue, diplomacy, and negotiations rather than military confrontation. The planned deployment of a Chinese special envoy signals Beijing’s growing diplomatic engagement in efforts to stabilize the Middle East.
