Turkiye on Thursday firmly rejected reports circulating in certain Indian media outlets that accused Ankara of having a role in the recent car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort. The Turkish government urged the public and media consumers not to place any trust in what it described as baseless and misleading claims. According to Turkiye, the allegations appear to be speculative and unsupported by any credible evidence, yet have been amplified in the aftermath of the deadly attack.

The explosion, which took place on Monday in a busy area of India’s capital, initially claimed eight lives and injured more than twenty people. Authorities later confirmed that the death toll had risen to twelve as several critically wounded victims succumbed to their injuries. Indian security agencies quickly classified the incident as a terror attack, prompting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to pledge that all those responsible would be identified and brought to justice. The attack, occurring near a major historical landmark, has heightened concerns about security breaches in high-risk zones.

Reacting to the emerging media narratives, Turkiye’s Directorate of Communications issued an official statement dismissing the allegations outright. The directorate stressed that claims suggesting Ankara had assisted in radicalising sleeper cells or provided any support to groups planning attacks inside India were entirely unfounded. Turkish officials noted that such assertions not only misrepresent Turkiye’s stance but also risk inflaming bilateral tensions without basis.

In its statement, the directorate reaffirmed Turkiye’s long-standing position against terrorism in all its forms. It emphasised that the Turkish state “rejects acts of terror regardless of where or by whom they are committed,” underscoring that accusations of Ankara engaging in radicalisation or covert operations abroad were “purely disinformative and lack any factual basis.” By reiterating these principles, the Turkish government sought to distance itself clearly from the incident while discouraging the spread of misinformation during an already sensitive moment.
