Beirut, Lebanon: At least 31 people have been killed and 149 others injured in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting Lebanon, the Lebanese health ministry reported on Monday. The strikes come amid escalating tensions in the region, following a wave of rocket fire from Hezbollah into northern Israel.
In an official statement, the health ministry described the attacks as “Israeli enemy raids” and said they primarily struck Beirut’s southern suburbs as well as southern Lebanon. The ministry added that the numbers of casualties are preliminary and could rise as rescue operations continue.
The Israeli military has warned it may intensify its operations in response to Hezbollah’s recent rocket launches, signaling a potential escalation of the conflict. The situation has sparked widespread concern among local residents, many of whom have fled to safer areas amid fears of further strikes.
Emergency services in Lebanon are working under difficult conditions, with hospitals reporting a surge in casualties and local authorities calling for calm and international assistance. Civilians in the affected areas are reportedly struggling to access basic necessities as the conflict disrupts transportation and communication networks.
