Shanghai: The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has expressed serious concern over recent military strikes targeting Iran, calling for urgent international attention to prevent further escalation in the Middle East. The announcement comes amid rising tensions in the region following attacks on Iranian territory that have drawn widespread global condemnation.

In an official statement, SCO member states described the use of force as unacceptable and emphasized that disputes must be resolved exclusively through peaceful means. The bloc highlighted the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, and consideration of the legitimate interests of all parties, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter.

The organization reaffirmed the necessity of safeguarding Iran’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. It urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and refrain from actions that could further escalate tensions in the already volatile region.

Furthermore, the SCO called upon the United Nations and the UN Security Council to take immediate measures aimed at preserving international peace and security. The statement underscored that collective global efforts are crucial to stabilize the situation and prevent a broader regional conflict.

In a message of solidarity, SCO member states extended condolences to the families of those killed in the attacks and reaffirmed their support for the Government and people of Iran during the ongoing crisis. The organization stressed that diplomatic engagement remains the most viable path to resolving tensions in the region.

Analysts say the SCO’s statement reflects the growing international concern over the Middle East conflict and signals the bloc’s commitment to advocating diplomatic solutions and adherence to international law. By highlighting restraint and multilateral dialogue, the SCO positions itself as a key regional actor seeking to prevent further destabilization.
