Tehran: Following the martyrdom of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Iranian authorities have accelerated the process to select a new Supreme Leader, assuring the public that the transition will be swift and in accordance with the country’s constitutional requirements.

According to international media reports, Iranian officials emphasized that the selection process will remain free from personal preferences, political affiliations, or factional interests. Authorities have stated that the process will be conducted transparently, constitutionally, and within the institutional framework of the Islamic Republic.

Ayatollah Ali Malemi, a member of the Assembly of Experts, told the media that the new Supreme Leader will be chosen entirely on a merit-based, impartial basis. He added that the Assembly will fulfill its constitutional duty by selecting a leader who upholds the principles of the Islamic Revolution, ensures national security, and serves the interests of the Iranian people.

Under Iran’s constitution, the Assembly of Experts, a body composed of clerics elected from across the country, holds the authority to appoint the Supreme Leader. With the current situation, political and religious leadership across Tehran and the rest of Iran are focused on this critical and historic process, which will determine the nation’s highest authority.
