Iraqi Resistance Groups Claim Wave of Attacks on US Bases

Armed Shia factions operating in Iraq say they carried out more than 30 attacks against US military sites and related facilities over the past 24 hours. The groups claimed the strikes targeted American bases both inside Iraq and at locations elsewhere in the region, marking one of the most intense waves of claimed operations in a single day.

In a statement, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq—an umbrella network for several Iran-aligned armed factions active in the country—said its fighters conducted 31 military operations during the period. According to the statement, the attacks involved drones and missile strikes aimed at what the group described as “enemy bases” used by US forces.

The organization said the operations were carried out by its supporters across multiple locations, though it did not provide detailed information about the exact sites targeted or the extent of any damage. US officials have not immediately confirmed the claims or reported casualties linked to the alleged attacks.

Earlier, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq also asserted that its members had shot down a KC-135 aerial refueling aircraft belonging to the United States Air Force in western Iraq. The claim has not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate comment from US military authorities regarding the reported incident.

The group has previously announced attacks on US military positions in Iraq and neighboring countries, often using drones and rockets. Such claims are frequently difficult to verify independently, and confirmation typically comes later from military officials or other sources.
