US-Israeli Strikes Hit Gas Facilities in Isfahan, Khorramshahr: Fars

TEHRAN: Fresh reports from Iranian media indicate that US-Israeli strikes have targeted key elements of Iran’s energy infrastructure, hitting gas facilities in multiple locations and raising concerns about further escalation in the ongoing conflict.

According to Fars News Agency, a gas administration building and a pressure reduction station on Kaveh Street in Isfahan were struck, causing damage to parts of the facility as well as nearby residential homes. While the full extent of the damage remains unclear, the attack highlights the vulnerability of critical infrastructure in one of Iran’s main energy distribution hubs.

At the same time, reports emerged of a separate strike targeting a gas pipeline connected to a power station in Khorramshahr. Local authorities confirmed that a projectile landed outside the facility, with no casualties reported. However, officials warned that even limited damage could disrupt wider energy supply networks.

Strategic Importance of Targeted Sites

Isfahan is a key node in Iran’s gas distribution system, supplying fuel to major cities and industrial sectors. Any disruption in this region could have wide-ranging effects on both domestic energy availability and industrial operations.

Khorramshahr, located in southern Iran, is also a vital part of the country’s broader energy infrastructure. It is closely linked to electricity generation and gas supply systems, meaning any attack there can affect national operational capacity rather than just a single facility.

Contradictions with US Statements

The reported strikes appear to contradict earlier remarks by Donald Trump, who had indicated that attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure might be delayed. He also suggested that diplomatic progress was being made and that the Strait of Hormuz could reopen soon.

However, Iranian officials quickly rejected these claims, denying that any negotiations were underway and accusing Washington of spreading misleading information to influence global oil markets and public opinion.

Iran Rejects Negotiation Claims

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei stated that while messages had been received through intermediaries, no direct talks with the United States had taken place. He described reports of negotiations as “fake news” intended to create confusion and shift attention away from developments on the ground.

Baghaei reiterated that Iran had clearly warned of the consequences of targeting its energy infrastructure, stressing that any such actions would be met with a firm response.

Warnings of Retaliation

In a separate statement, Iran’s Defense Council warned that further attacks on power plants or gas facilities would trigger a “decisive and destructive” response. The council pointed to previous retaliatory strikes, including attacks on sensitive sites in Israel, as evidence of Iran’s readiness to respond immediately.

The latest developments suggest a dangerous shift in the conflict, with energy infrastructure increasingly becoming a target. Analysts warn that continued strikes in this sector could deepen regional instability and significantly impact global energy markets as the war intensifies.
