TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during a meeting with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in establishing and strengthening the ceasefire, particularly acknowledging the role of Pakistan’s prime minister and Asim Munir. He expressed hope that these efforts would contribute effectively to lasting peace, stability, and security in the region.
President Pezeshkian described the attacks carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran, which resulted in the martyrdom of senior military commanders, ministers, students, and civilians, as a grave crime. He said such actions were completely against humanitarian, legal, and international principles and could not be accepted by any conscientious person in the world.
He stated that the main objective behind these attacks was to create internal instability in Iran and weaken the Islamic system, but the enemies failed to anticipate the unity, loyalty, and resilience of the Iranian people. According to him, the Iranian nation demonstrated extraordinary solidarity during difficult circumstances and showed strong commitment to their country and political system.
The Iranian president further said that the United States and Israel attempted to infiltrate certain terrorist elements into Iran through the country’s northwestern and southeastern border regions in order to spread unrest inside the country. However, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq acted responsibly by preventing their territories from being used against Iran, for which Tehran remains grateful to these countries.
He also appreciated Pakistan’s initiatives aimed at promoting border trade and economic cooperation, saying that economic, trade, scientific, and cultural collaboration between Iran and Pakistan could be expanded further. He added that recent developments had brought the two countries closer than ever before and created an excellent opportunity to elevate bilateral relations to a new level.
President Masoud Pezeshkian also expressed Iran’s desire to enhance cooperation with Pakistan in the fields of science, education, and technology. He said exchanges of students, teachers, and advanced scientific expertise could play an important role in the development and sustainable progress of both countries.
He stressed that Islamic countries should promote unity and harmony on the basis of their shared religious, cultural, and strategic interests, adding that the stronger the unity of the Muslim Ummah becomes, the less opportunity external powers and Israel will have to interfere and commit aggression.
The Iranian president said Iran seeks friendly, sustainable, and mutually respectful relations with neighboring countries, especially the Gulf states. However, he noted that the United States and Israel have consistently tried to create divisions and mistrust among Muslim nations.
He further stated that if major countries in the Islamic world strengthened mutual cooperation and regional connectivity, lasting peace and security could be achieved in the region, adding that Israel would never dare to commit aggression against Muslim countries in the presence of a united Islamic world.
On the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi said recent regional developments had made it clear who the real friends and enemies are in difficult times.
He said Iran and Pakistan have always shared historic, cultural, and people-to-people ties based on brotherhood, and these relations have become even stronger following recent events.
Mohsin Naqvi added that the people of Pakistan hold deep respect and affection for the people of Iran and expressed hope that bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries would continue to grow under the commitment of the leadership of both nations.
