Washington: In a contentious decision reflecting deep divisions in American politics, the United States Senate has voted to allow the continued transfer of military equipment to Israel, including bulldozers and bombs, despite a significant pushback from a group of lawmakers.

Approximately 40 senators attempted to block the sale, raising concerns over the humanitarian consequences of such military support. However, the Republican-led Senate rejected both measures. The resolution to halt the transfer of military bulldozers failed with a vote of 59–40, while the effort to block bomb shipments was defeated 63–36, according to reports from American media outlets.

The outcome ensures that the flow of military equipment to Israel will continue, even as criticism mounts both domestically and internationally over the impact of the ongoing conflict on civilians.Among the most vocal critics was Senator Bernie Sanders, who argued against the continued use of U.S. taxpayer money for military aid.

“U.S. taxpayers must not keep funding the Netanyahu government’s mass killing and displacement of civilians,” he said during the debate.Despite such objections, the Senate’s decision underscores the enduring bipartisan support in Washington for maintaining military assistance to Israel, a longstanding U.S. ally in the Middle East.

The approval comes at a time of growing public scrutiny and increasing calls for accountability regarding the humanitarian situation in the region. The development is expected to further intensify political debate within the United States, as well as shape international perceptions of Washington’s role in the ongoing conflict.
