Israeli military operations in the occupied Palestinian territories on Sunday killed at least 16 Palestinians, including children and entire families, according to Palestinian health officials. Among the dead were two children and their parents in the West Bank, as well as a man, his pregnant wife, and their son in the Gaza Strip. This represents one of the deadliest days in recent weeks, amid a broader escalation of violence in the region.

In Gaza, an Israeli airstrike targeted a police vehicle near the entrance of Zawayda town in the central Gaza Strip, killing a senior police official and eight other officers. The strike also injured at least 14 others, mostly civilians, according to the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry. The attack has sparked fears of renewed violence, as residents report that Israeli strikes have been rising again following a temporary lull after the February 28 U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran.

Meanwhile, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, a Palestinian family of four was shot and killed while driving, Palestinian health authorities confirmed. The victims included a father, mother, and two children, highlighting the increasing human toll of the ongoing Israeli operations in the territory.

Earlier on Sunday, health officials in Gaza reported another airstrike in the western area of Nuseirat, killing a man, his pregnant wife, and their son. There was no immediate comment from Israeli authorities regarding these specific incidents.

Since a ceasefire went into effect in October following two years of devastating war in Gaza, violence has continued intermittently. While Israeli strikes initially declined after the February 28 U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran, Gaza medics and analysts report a resurgence of airstrikes and shelling. According to Gaza health officials, at least 36 Palestinians have been killed since the outbreak of the Iran war, contributing to a total of around 670 fatalities from Israeli fire since the October ceasefire.

On the Israeli side, authorities reported that four Israeli soldiers have been killed by Palestinian attacks in Gaza over the same period. The ongoing violence underscores the fragile security situation in Gaza and the West Bank, raising concerns about the potential for further escalation and civilian casualties in the coming weeks.
